Maritime Solent is welcoming applications from maritime-focused Solent-based charities to partner with the industry champion until October 2027.
Charities operating in the maritime or marine sector are encouraged to apply for the Charity Partnership connecting their work with the organisation’s network of over 1,200 active maritime professionals and organisations who are Partners.
Maritime Solent exists to champion, connect, and strengthen the Solent region’s maritime sector, ensuring the area remains a world‑leading hub for marine business, innovation, skills, and sustainable growth.
Cowes-based charity UK Sailing Academy (UKSA) was selected last year following a thorough process and has spent the last year partnered with Maritime Solent. The team worked with over 10,000 students in 2024/25 transforming lives by widening access to maritime training, enhancing life skills and employment in the sector.
Amy Sweeting, Director of Development & Impact at UKSA, said: “From UKSA’s perspective, being Maritime Solent’s Charity of the Year has been hugely valuable. It’s given us access to a well-connected, influential network across the industry and a platform to showcase our work to organisations shaping the future of maritime.
“Just as important has been the opportunity to attend and be part of key events, which has helped us build meaningful relationships and open up opportunities for the young people we support. For a charity like ours, that visibility and connectivity really matter.”
Keith Greenfield, Chair of Maritime Solent, said: “The charity partnership gives us the opportunity to broaden our understanding of the fantastic work being done to support communities in the local area. Connecting our network with these charities to benefit the region and our industry is incredibly beneficial to all.
“We’d like to thank UKSA for their commitment over the last year and we’re looking forward to building on the success of this initiative and welcoming a new partner.”
The chosen charity will be invited to present at the Maritime Solent Awards on 22 October and to join Maritime Solent on a number of networking events across the year. Applications for the Charity Partnership close on 31 July and more information can be found by visiting https://maritimesolent.com/.
