Maritime businesses and organisations across the Solent region are encouraged to showcase their achievements by entering the prestigious fourth annual Maritime Solent Awards by the 8 August deadline.
Maritime Solent, the industry-led partnership organisation championing Solent success worldwide, is also seeking its next Charity of the Year partner and calling on maritime-related charities based in the Solent to come forward. Applications for Charity of the Year close on 31 July.
Rona Sailing Project, a volunteer-based sail training organisation working primarily with young people between the ages of 14 and 25, was the Charity Partner for 2024/25.
Sarah Woodman, Project Director at Rona Sailing Project, said: “Being the 2024 Charity Partner has opened a number of doors for us to be able to share the work of the Rona Sailing Project with local businesses, educational establishments and to a wider audience via their extensive network. Alongside increasing awareness of our life-changing sail training opportunities, we have benefited from an increase in people wishing to volunteer or support us financially or in another way, more volunteers and young people wishing to join a voyage.”
With a network of over 1,200 maritime professionals, organisations and charities, all operating in the Solent region, getting involved with the Awards provides a platform to showcase project successes, rising talent, team milestones and distinct skill sets among industry peers and customers.
The Awards evening on 23 October itself attracts over 300 senior leaders and representatives along with many of the big names from the maritime industry providing an opportunity for networking as well as celebrating.
Anne-Marie Mountifield, Chair of Maritime Solent, said: “The Maritime Solent Awards have become a key part of the industry’s calendar providing an opportunity to really celebrate the world-class work and people behind the projects underway in our region. We’ve introduced two new categories this year, recognising the vital role that those working in Maritime Defence and Maritime Logistics play in driving innovation, resilience, and growth across the regional maritime business ecosystem.
“We have so much to celebrate and providing this platform to showcase our region’s incredible maritime sector, from emerging talent to the legacies of individuals who have spent a career contributing to the success of maritime in the Solent, is a real privilege.”
Finalists will be announced in September, and all finalists will be invited to a Celebration Event at Carnival House in Southampton on 24 September where the Charity of the Year will be announced.
